Jared Butler started his career in feature film development at 20th Century Fox and went on to become a working Hollywood screenwriter and voice actor.

In 2010, he co-founded the ground-breaking, post-apocalyptic themed immersive event, Wasteland Weekend, which is still going strong.

In 2019, Jared created an immersive cyberpunk pop-up bar in Downtown Los Angeles called Neotropolis.

Since 2022, the evolved version of Neotropolis has been operating as multi-day immersive experience in the California Mojave Desert, attracting thousands of attendees. The event takes place in a fully-constructed fictional neon city and requires everyone to be dressed in theme. It blends a cyberpunk and sci-fi festival atmosphere with dramatic storylines, user-generated content, live music, video-gaming, bartering, and hacking.

His company Wasteland World has also created a film festival, a car show, and the Wastelanders Ball. While he has been tightlipped about the next immersive world he wants to create, we've heard rumors of a European destination or a semi-permanent walkthrough experience near Los Angeles.
